With 2500 animals in 80 acres, Paington Zoo is a fun-filled day out for the whole family. The wildlife conservation charity has created a series of appealing, natural-themed enclosures that are home to everything from Asiatic lions to Western grey kangaroos.

Babbacombe Model Village

What a treat! The wondrous, witty worlds-in-minature at Babbacombe Model Village take in everything from a pint sized Stonehenge, to a medieval castle – complete with fire-breathing dragon. And then there’s the blazing house, the celebrity mansion and the lake, complete with nudist beach.

Kent’s Cavern

At Kent's Cavern you step straight into the Stone Age. This extensive network of labyrinthine caves winds through 400 million year old rocks, besides stalagmites and stalactites and into tunnels where Stone Age people lived.

Ferry to Brixham

The blue and white boats of the Western Lady have been shuttling between Torquay and Brixham for more than 70 years. The 30 minute trip takes you across a glorious stretch of Tor Bay, past gorgeous beaches, to the quaint fishing port of Brixham.

Cockington Country Park

It’s just a 15 minute walk from Torbay Rise to Cockington Country Park. This 450 acre enclave is a blend of garden landscapes, countryside, lakes and woods. You’ll also find a historic manor house, an ancient church, craft studios and a pretty village – complete with rustic pub.

Torre Abbey & Abbey Park

Or stroll east for 10 minutes from Torbay Rise to 12th century Torre Abbey. Torbay’s most historic building has an impressive art gallery, exhibition spaces and 18 acres of grounds including exotic gardens and a tropical glasshouse. At neighbouring Abbey Park you can play tennis, lawn bowls and pitch n’ putt golf.
